Passport Applications for U.S. Citizens

As you have all probably heard, the U.S. Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 requires that by summer 2009, travelers to and from Canada, Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama and Mexico by land must have a passport to enter or re-enter the United States. If traveling by air or sea, a passport will be required as of January 1, 2007.

As we understand it, passport fees are in the $100.00 range and are good for 10 years.

For information on obtaining a U.S. passport, accessing forms or finding a list of places that accept passport applications, go to the US Department of State website at: http://travel.state.gov/passport (click on right hand side of tab saying Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative and then view Land & Sea Travel)

For passports for children under 14 years of age go to: http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/get/minors/minors_834.html
